Abstract
Since Lebert, Virchow and R. Meyer has submitted the study for uterine sarcoma, there are much speculations as to clinical and pathological aspect of this disease.
Different authors have a variance of opinion in regard to histogenesis of some type of this tumor and incidence of sarcomatous degeneration of leiomyoma.
The variation in incidence of sarcomatous degeneration of leiomyoma is mainly due to disagreement among pathologists or gynecologist as to definite histological criteria for uterine sarcoma.
1) Since 1961. 1.1. up to 1966. 12.31. at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University Medical
College, has 5 cases of histologically proven uterine sarcoma.
2) In a series of 192 cases of leiomyomas at Severance Hospital, incidence of sarcomatous change is reported as 0.015%.
3) At Severance Hospital, uterine sarcoma occupies about 1 % of all malignant disease of the uterus
